The Surprise
Skipper: Gerald Thompson

The Surprise is a 60 year old open passenger boat, built by the Admiralty in Christchurch, Hants. This launch has been owned by Gerald for 26 years, since he joined St. Mary's Boatmen's Asscociation.

Gerald Thompson purchased the Surprise from his uncle in 1979, and automatically became part of the Boatmen's Association. During his membership he has also part owned another launch, 'Kingsley', which was also an open passenger boat.

Gerald has long running family ties withing the Assciation with his father, Frank Thompson, and uncle, Jeff Thompson, being founder members in 1958.

Gerald says his favorite boating trip is: "the Seabird Special".
