The Sapphire
Skipper: Joe Pender

The Sapphire is a Kingfisher K50 passenger boat, which was built to order 5 years ago in Falmouth by Kingfisher Boats.

Joe Pender has been a member of St. Mary's Boatmen's Association for 13 years. Before purchasing the Sapphire he operated the 'Lily of Laguna' for 8 years, which was a 45ft wooden passenger launch. Joe took over the 'Lily of Laguna' from his father Guthrie Pender who was a founder member of the Association.

Joe has many family connections within the Boatmen's Association, apart from previous members: his father - Guthrie Pender, uncle - Gee Hicks, cousin - Mike Hicks, he also has second cousins who are current members: Stephen Hicks - Skipper of the Seahorse, Fraser Hicks - Skipper of the Sea King and Alec Hicks - Skipper of the Kingfisher.

Joe's says his favorite boating trip is: "the Bishop and Western Rocks".
